This consultation is now closed. Thank you for your responses.
We're consulting on alterations to the design of the Addenbrooke’s roundabout.
The consultation closes at midday (noon) on Monday 24 July.
The new design aims to:
significantly widen the pedestrian and cycleway on both sides of Fendon Road
replace the staggered crossing on Babraham Road with a single crossing
reduce the roundabout’s central island
Further upgrades to the other arms of the roundabout may be delivered at a later stage, but are not proposed as part of this consultation.
This will significantly improve safety for pedestrians and cyclists accessing the Addenbrooke’s site and Cambridge Biomedical Campus.
The need to improve cycling infrastructure at Addenbrooke’s roundabout was identified by Cambridgeshire County Council as a priority last year. Since this location falls within the GCP’s Cycling Plus A1134 scheme, the GCP aims to accelerate the delivery of this area’s design and construction plans, following the outcome of this consultation.
It's intended that the scheme will be implemented by 2024, and on this basis, it has secured additional funding from Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Combined Authority.
