Cambridgeshire County Council is committed to:

"Creating a greener, fairer and more caring Cambridgeshire"

We will work closer to our communities, partners and residents to deliver this vision, through our seven ambitions which are set out in our Strategic Framework. This can be viewed in more detail from the Documents section of this page.

Ambition 1, net zero carbon emissions for Cambridgeshire by 2045, and our communities and natural environment are supported to adapt and thrive as the climate changes. Ambition 2, travel across the county is safer and more environmentally sustainable. Ambition 3, health inequalities are reduced. Ambition 4, people enjoy healthy, safe and independent lives through timely support that is most suited to their needs. Ambition 5, people are helped out of poverty and income inequality. Ambition 6, places and communities prosper because they have a resilient and inclusive economy, access to good quality public services and social justice is prioritised. Ambition 7, children and young people have opportunities to thrive.

We have worked to make Cambridgeshire greener by:

We have worked to make Cambridgeshire fairer by:

We have worked to make Cambridgeshire more caring by:

  • Launching a new social work academy and boosted training and career opportunities for local care workers (you can find out more through this link: Social Care Academy Launched in Cambridgeshire | Cambridgeshire County Council).
  • Supporting places like the Hot Pots Café through the Learning Disability Partnership that helps people with learning disabilities and autism develop independence and employment skills:

What are we engaging on?

Delivering our vision of a greener, fairer and more caring Cambridgeshire comes with a responsibility to set a balanced budget for our services. We do this through our business planning process every year, where we decide how we will spend and save the money that makes up our budget. There are difficult decisions to make to balance the budget. The county’s population is growing, and both the costs and demand for key council services are rising. (For more information on how Cambridgeshire is changing, see this link to Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Insight). A third of our funding comes from Council Tax, but nearly half of our spending is on adults' and children's social care. Visit our Budget overview page (External link) to find out where our budget came from and how it was spent in the 2024-25 financial year.

We are engaging with you in two phases between November 2024 and January 2025 so your views can help inform decision-making about our next Business Plan (external link), which sets out our budget decisions for the next five financial years.

The Engagement Survey (Phase 1) closed in early December, where we ask for your general views on how we should prioritise our spending and savings decisions. The results of the engagement survey can be found here (external link).

This consultation survey (Phase 2) is seeking your views on the spending and savings proposals in our draft Business Plan for 2025-26 - 2029-30.

The consultation survey will be open until 9 January 2025.
