Consultation has concluded
This consultation has now closed.
Introduction and background:
The Greater Cambridge Partnership (GCP) are working with Cambridgeshire County Council (CCC) as part of the government’s response to Covid-19 to reallocate road-space to walking and cycling and support social distancing.
A series of experimental traffic restrictions were implemented in August this year which installed modal filters and closed various streets to through traffic movements by car. These measures could offer longer-term benefits by providing lower trafficked routes for walking and cycling which could be made permanent at the end of the experiment.
The experimental traffic restrictions can be in place for a maximum of 18 months. Anyone can object to making the experimental measure permanent during the first 6 months of the trial. Other representations are welcomed at any time.
GCP are now commencing a 6 week period of consultation on the effects of the experimental measures and we invite your feedback by filling in the survey below.
During the trial period sensors have captured data on traffic movements for each of the experimental schemes. The traffic data is available in the documents in the right hand column.
All representations will be considered by the GCP and CCC prior to any final decisions being taken on whether the experimental measures should be made permanent, modified in any way or removed.
Please note that the Mill Road bridge closure to all traffic except buses, cycles and pedestrians is part of a separate survey by Cambridgeshire County Council which can be found at www.cambridgeshire.gov.uk/mill-road-consultation.
