Consultation 2020
The Waterbeach to Cambridge project is one of four corridor projects that aim to provide better public transport and active travel routes, such as walking and cycling, offering better connections and alternatives to car use for growing communities to the north, south east, east and west of the city.
It is part of the Greater Cambridge Partnership’s transport programme, investing Government funding in a comprehensive package of initiatives to tackle the congestion Greater Cambridge faces now and which will enable it to grow in the future.
The four schemes form an integral part of delivery of the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority’s Cambridgeshire Autonomous Metro (CAM) scheme, part of a network of routes including tunnels under the city of Cambridge.
New routes will be served by modern, electric vehicles to limit air pollution and noise and complemented by travel hubs to encourage park and ride journeys and offer end-to-end space for active travel options like walking and cycling.
Following public engagement in the autumn of 2019 and the summer of 2020 GCP has developed a number of options to improve transport to the north of Cambridge for those who live or travel in the area. These options, which include public transport, walking and cycling proposals, are at an early stage and we want to find out what people think about them.
The options
There are four areas that we are seeking feedback on as a possible locations for a high quality public transport route, walking and cycling improvements. Maps can be found under the maps sections on this page and in the consultation brochure:
- East area of interest
- Central area of interest
- A10 area of interest
- West area of interest
We want to hear from anyone who lives in, works in, travels to or from, or who has a commercial interest in the area to the north of Cambridge as part of this consultation.
The feedback we receive will be analysed before being submitted to our Joint Assembly for consideration and to our Executive Board to inform any decision on how to move forward.
There will however, be further engagement before any final decisions are made.
You can share your thoughts with us by filling in the survey at the bottom of this page.
