Introduction

GCP is working with Cambridgeshire County Council to encourage walking and cycling and to support social distancing during the Covid-19 pandemic.

We introduced a series of experimental traffic management schemes in August 2020 including a first phase of measures in the Newtown area which closed various routes to through motor traffic. We held a public consultation for this first phase of measures in November / December 2020.

A second phase of experimental measures for the Newtown area was introduced on 20 January 2021. We delivered information leaflets to local addresses and advertised the closures through the media, our website and local stakeholders. We invited people to send us their comments on all the Phase 2 measures in the Newtown area. All comments and feedback will be given careful consideration when the experimental measures are reviewed in the autumn this year.

The Phase 2 public consultation

We are now holding a formal public consultation on the Newtown Phase 2 measures. This will start at noon on Monday 17 May 2021 and close at noon on Friday 11 June.

All representations will be considered by the GCP and CCC prior to any final decisions being taken on whether the experimental measures should be made permanent, modified in any way or removed.

Please complete this questionnaire to have your say.
