GCP St Ives Greenway: Oakington to Cottenham

Our consultation period took place between 6 February and 31 March 2023.

The St Ives Greenway is one of twelve proposed Greenways, which aim to make local walking, cycling and, where appropriate, horse riding journeys safer and easier – connecting villages along the route to each other and Cambridge.

We are consulting the public on a number of proposed enhancements to routes linking in to the existing St Ives Greenway, also known as the Cambridgeshire Guided Busway, part of National Cycle Route 51.

The enhancements would improve connectivity between settlements adjacent to the Greenway, including Oakington, Westwick and Cottenham.

We are also consulting on proposals to improve connectivity to the Greenway from Over and Fen Drayton.

We have provided this information and survey for you to give your views on our design proposals for the link between Oakington, Westwick and Cottehnham.

Your feedback is essential in helping us refine our designs and ensure they best suit the needs of your local community.

Flood Monitoring

In addition to the two consultations we are undertaking flood monitoring in the Fen Drayton lakes area.

It is well known that the route is liable to flooding in this area and we are working to understand this as part of the St Ives Greenway project.

We have installed flood monitoring equipment that will collect data on any flood locations, extents, duration and depth over the next 18 months.

This will help us to work with the Environment Agency, RSPB and landowners to determine the most appropriate course of action in the face of a changing climate.
