Consultation has concluded

Cambridgeshire County Council are proposing to introduce additional fees to support the delivery of our Client Funds Service. The Service currently supports 225 vulnerable adults who lack capacity for finances across Cambridgeshire (and out of County) under either a Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) Corporate Appointeeship or Court of Protection (COP) Deputyship Order.

The cost of running the Service is increasing, external providers are few and changes to certain DWP benefits means that the applying, maintaining and challenging of these benefits is much more involved and resource intensive. We are needing to run a waiting list and if the proposed additional fees are introduced, the Council would be in a better position to extend the Client Funds Service to meet the growing demand. Clients would have access to their funds quicker, their finances would be managed effectively ensuring income and expenditure is appropriate and minimising the risk of potential financial abuse

Dependent on the outcome of the consultation, we are proposing to introduce the additional fees with effect from 1st October 2024.
