Oakington Busway stop. Bus shelters on either side of the Busway track, with a bus driving away from the shelter on the left-hand side

Rural Travel Hubs are small flexible transport interchanges at key locations in South Cambridgeshire, allowing more people to access sustainable transport networks.

We want to nurture strong and vibrant communities across Cambridge and South Cambridgeshire by connecting people and promoting greener, cleaner travel.

Rural Travel Hubs aim to reduce the levels of private car journeys between Cambridge and the surrounding villages by providing sustainable transport options and enabling connections between neighbouring villages and towns.

Our consultation on a pilot Rural Travel Hub – proposed for Oakington, adjacent to The Busway route and providing new links to connect the surrounding villages with public transport, cycling and walking routes - has now closed. Thank you to everyone who took the time to give us their feedback.

The GCP Executive Board has decided to consider further potential alternative locations for the proposed Rural Travel Hub at Oakington and a further report be brought back to a future meeting of the Joint Assembly and Executive Board.
